19 Weeks

My Belly now sticks out further than my Booty ! I felt the baby's first big move/kick on the 4th of July ! It was so special ! I stopped in my tracks and dropped my purse and was just in awe for a bit. It felt like I had swallowed my cell phone and it was vibrating in my belly. Then later that evening when I was laying down I felt "pops" right below my belly button , assuming those are kicks. I feel like I have to be really still to know for sure if it's the baby or not. Can't wait until Chad can feel it too. He has been so cute always wants to put his hands over my belly, just in case the baby kicks hard enough he will feel it and not miss it.

We are getting so anxious to meet our little one. 9:40 tomorrow is our ultrasound, can't wait to see him/her and make sure they are looking healthy !

Mother knows best

After finally meeting my doctor for the first time last month ( I had seen a nurse, then the stand in Dr. while the doctor I had been recommended was still on maternity leave) She was very nice.... yet slightly over energetic for my taste ! I thought it would be fine, I told myself I couldn't be too picky and I am already 18 weeks along I can't switch now. But after a wonderful conversation with my mother I'm glad I realized damn straight I can be picky ! I'm going to be giving birth, not a time when I need to worry about if it's appropriate to be picky or not. I need to have someone with me that i'm totally 100 percent comfortable with. With much guidance from my mom, and talking over what is important to me and the experience I have decided to leave the OB practice I had started going to for a Midwife clinic that emphasizes more on holistic childbirth yet also is available to all types of pain medication administered by hospital staff if that is what I choose (which is what I'll be going with.) The clinic consists of 5 midwives which you rotate between during all your appointments so you'll be able to know each lady personally. Since who knows who's day it will be when I go into labor I felt more comfortable knowing I would know each midwife that might be assisting me. With the other doctor if she was not on call I could end up with someone I had never even met. The midwife will be with me during the Whole labor and delivery not just show up for the big push, continue to be with you through the hours following delivery to assist in breast feeding. Also the childbirth classes are taught in a small group 8 couples over 6 weeks. The classes are taught at a womens welness center that emphasizes yoga practice and nutrition for pre/post natal care. Overall I think I might the right decision to really think what is going to be best for me !

And on a side note I think it will cost less seeing a midwife, compared to the 3,988 bill for the doctor. Well once insurance hits it would only be 1,000.. but still. Having a baby is so expensive. The price above is only for the visits, to push on your belly and tell you how fat your getting. Not even including blood work and ultrasounds. Geez maybe I should just say i'm a teenager that got knocked up, then I wouldn't have to pay for anything ! The system is so screwed up.

I have been feeling really overweight and not attractice lately so no picture of me. Even though Chad is continually telling me I'm beautiful hearing it doesn't change the fact I hate getting dressed every morning. I do have a nice collection of mumu's now that make things easeir.

Overall Life is good ! And we are getting so excited for Wednesday ! We are going to have the ultrasound tech write down what we are having on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope then we are having lunch with chad's family and opening it up so we all find out together ! Then after that we will go shopping a bit so I can finally get something that isn't green or yellow !
We love our little one so much already, can't wait to meet our little (ezra jude,amalie claire)

Names for our little one

July 8th is our BIG ultrasound ! We finally get to see the first glimpse of our child and also find out if we are having a boy or girl ! The time has really flown by ! I can't believe I'll be almost halfway through pregnancy by this apt.

If we have a girl she will be Amalie Claire if we have a boy he will be Ezra..... middle name is still up in the air. Ideas we have are Jude, Alexander, James , but those are rather traditional if anyone has any suggestions on middle names let us hear them ! I think we are both tired of coming up with middle names for awhile.

Picking out just the right name is tough, so many things to think about. Is the name too cute, will it be good for an infant and an adult. Will people mispronounce it their whole life. (and with a last name like Asbjornsen, we had to take this seriously) Will kids make fun of the name, example we were going to name our boy AMOS, but too many people said he will probably at some point or another (around middle school) be called amos the anus ! I can't do that to my kid.

We are in love with our girl name, but still trying to find the right boy name, but soon enough we will find out if we need to worry about it ! 21 days and counting

Entering the blog community

Well, at one point or another I have thought about starting a blog. But stopped after a post or two thinking our life wasn't of too much interest. I had once told my friend Kayley that it's pretty much just families that have blogs worth reading. And the other day while chatting with Kayley I realized maybe i'll give this a shot even if she is the only one reading. ( I"ll try to make your work day go by faster kayley !) So we will start with my pregnancy, my woes of becoming huge, then move onto labor stories then pictures of our little kiddo growing up and all the trivial yet cute things that happen in the day to day life of being a mom ! I can be a legitimate family blogger now ! Yahoo.
